The UW Medicine Clinical Trials Office (UW CTO) provides centralized support and services for physician investigators and their teams conducting clinical trials and research studies. We guide and help teams through study start-up, trial execution and close-out within the University of Washington (UW), and work with investigators and study teams across UW, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC), and Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH). We are committed to research excellence while protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our study participants.
Study Coordination and Regulatory Compliance
Our experienced and dedicated research coordinators provide clinical trial management and regulatory support to physician investigators to successfully guide their trials and research studies from start-up to close-out.
Institutional Financial Review
UW CTO performs required institutional financial compliance review for all clinical trials and clinical research studies to ensure proper compliance with Medicare Clinical Trial Policy and other billing rules and regulations.
Research Nursing
Our Translational Research Unit (CTO TRU) registered nurses provide skilled care coordination for therapeutic and other interventional trials as well as observational studies.
CTO TRU is located at the UW Medical Center (Montlake Campus) and offers fully equipped hospital rooms, allowing study teams to safely conduct clinical research visits, including those for early phase trials.

Protecting your rights, safety, and well-being
Throughout the clinical trial process, patients remain our highest priority. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is an international ethical and scientific quality standard for designing and managing clinical trials, and for recording and reporting clinical trial results. Physician investigators and study teams work together to protect the rights, safety, and well-being of all human research participants.
